Daily Digest #24

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power. —2 Timothy 1:7

We are afraid of judgment, that others may condemn or abandon us for making choices contrary to the standards of society or cultures of our religion. We are afraid to take the initiative to reconcile with people we're not in good terms with. We are afraid of rejection.... of attachment and detachment. We fear facing this world alone. We fear making mistakes. We fear many, many things.

But wise men say, face your fear. Take a leap of faith. Step forward into the unknown, blindfolded. Making that one step is scary enough because we love our comfort zone so much that we refuse to leave it. But who knows what's next anyway? We tend to control everything around us that we forget we're only human.

I once tried to face one of my greatest fears, rejection. I prepared myself for the worst and followed my heart's desires. In the end, I lost some, but I gained something more. It was something I never imagined coming. God has ways only He can comprehend, which He later on reveals to us in unexpected ways, all in His time.

Let us commend those who have been brave to face life, eager to learn, live and love. They serve as inspiration to us. They demonstrate God's grace and love, making us realize that God really exists. They show us how trusting Him completely truly works. And so, may we learn to take that leap of faith. May we bear in mind that He is always in control. May we never forget to thank and pray for those who help and pray for us, especially in times of need. May we trust and hope in the Lord. Pray always.
