How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? . . . My heart churns within Me; My sympathy is stirred. —Hosea 11:8
Somehow, we can relate on God's sentiments on unrequited love, especially if we have experienced rejection or abandonment in the family, circle of friends, or any other relationship. We know how painful these experiences can be, much more for God who has always been there for us, waiting and hoping to be loved back, while we carry on with our selfish lives... We can be too confident sometimes that He will always love and take us back anyway, but honestly, would we do the same to a person we truly love? Aren't we inclinded to reciprocate that love back? And doesn't it create joy in our hearts, no matter how hard it gets sometimes?
For this, let we assess our lives and ask ourselves: Do we love enough? Does the love for God that we claim show in our words and actions toward others? Is our life a reflection of His love, no matter what the circumstances are?
Let us pray, that He may teach us how to love. May we be reminded of His unconditional love for us, and learn from Jesus' examples. May we see the angels and blessings that He brings into our lives to learn and experience what love is all about. Pray always.
