Daily Digest #13
The master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. —Matthew 18:27
I hope we all get to reflect on the passage today, especially now that the world is so much driven by money and power. May we learn to pray for detachment from worldly things. Should we be blessed by these riches, may we use them unselfishly. I know it seems absurd to say because temptation is always there, and we always tell ourselves "it's only human" or “I deserve it” to make an excuse for our actions or decisions. It's very hard not be selfish even for a moment, no matter how noble our intensions are. But we've witnessed so many who have turned away from God because of power and wealth, and it's pretty scary. With prayer, may we always remind ourselves what His grace and mercy mean to our lives. May we forgive others as He has forgiven us in spite of our sinfulness. May we learn to store up riches in heaven instead of riches on earth.
