Daily Digest #201

That you may know what is the hope of His calling . . . and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe. —Ephesians 1:18-19

I used to think obedience is enough. I felt the pressure, as if somebody was constantly checking on me, which opposes the idea of freedom God is giving us. And when I don't obey, I usually get disappointed, finding it hard to forgive myself.

I learned that obedience without love is worth nothing. There is no joy in obedience when one obeys out of mere obligation. Jesus wants us to experience an intimate connection with His Father just as He had -- a relationship built on faith, hope and love.

For this, let us pray. May we build a closer relationship with God through His son Jesus Christ. May we ask for strength and find courage to love and obey unconditionally. Pray always.
