Daily Digest #312

We have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function. —Romans 12:4

Procrastination is a habit that I have kept for the longest time. No, I am neither happy or proud about it. The reading actually serves as a wake up call for me, about delaying many things that I could have done earlier. Not only did it make me ineffective member, it also slowed or even stopped the progress of the group I belong to.

Procrastination also shows in the personal choices I've made. While others have moved on, I often find myself stuck in the same situation. I have allowed myself to go round and round, hoping to be right even when my conscience tells me it's wrong. I realize how the delays I've caused before were mostly because of fear --- fear of being wrong, fear of being judged, and fear of being weak.

But God's Words come with a gift -- a new beginning. We are easily discouraged by our circumstances, but no matter how many times we fall, He is there to help us rise, pick up the pieces and start anew. He never expects us to walk straight and bold right away. The Lord allows us to take it one step at a time, until we are strong enough to walk again.... by faith, and with love.

For this, join me in prayer. Lord, thank You for the gift of a new beginning. Thank You for giving us hope no matter how hopeless things seem. Thank You for blessing us with people who, and circumstances that, bring us closer to You. Please forgive us for offending you in many ways. We ask for courage to love, to forgive, and to share our gifts. Please guide our choices today. May we not delay doing Your will. We ask these through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
